Jahkira Nicole Patterson

Jahkira Nicole Patterson, known to many as Kira or Jackie was born in Newark, New Jersey to Gwenette Patterson (nee Harmon) and John Patterson on Wednesday November 10, 1982. Loving, generous, witty and kind, Jackie entered eternal peace on Sunday February 21, 2016. Though she left this Earth long before anyone could think, memories of her are forever held close by her Mother, Father, sister Linda Brown (nee Lorenzo), brother Jahquan Lewis, maternal Grandmother, Willa Harmon, aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, a host of friends and her fur-babies, Spartacus, Chazz and Colt. Jackie started on the path of greatness achieving several accomplishments, first attending Far Hills Country Day School followed by Marylawn of the Oranges High School Academy, in Far Hills and South Orange, NJ. She continued her post high school education when she enrolled at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in Newark, NJ. It wasn’t until 2007 at which time Jackie relocated to the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia. Here, she befriended many by working retail and then later making a work-home at Eagles Landing Family Practice. Jackie was determined, and continued her pursuit of higher education by completing a program at the Southern Crescent Technical College, followed by Mercer University College of Continuing and Professional Studies. Accolades don’t make a person. Jackie had an infectious smile and a laugh that warmed anyone’s heart. Her quick wit and generous heart made you gravitate towards her even more. Wherever Jackie went, her smell-goods went with her! She traveled cross-country and visited the Bahamas, but there’s no place like home. “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” (2 Cor 5:8). Jackie, you are a shooting star; an angel watching over us. Continue to make us laugh from the Garden State to the Peach State, and everywhere else in between. Jackie will be incredibly missed by her parents, relatives and friends. We cherish her memory forever. Visitation for Jahkira Nicole Patterson will be on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral home. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be conducted in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Dr. David R. Hill will officiate.
