Adeline Isabella McGee Macie

Adeline Isabella McGee Macie, 102, of Griffin, GA passed away on Sunday, June 19th at Brightmoor Nursing Center. Adeline was born Oct. 2, 1913 in North Ely, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Elizabeth Lancaster Davidson McGee and Robert Thomas McGee. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Macie and by her parents and brothers: James, George, Munro and Fred and sisters, Annie St. Arnold and Allison Soulia, son-in-law Arthur Burgoyne and granddaughter-in-law Susan Burgoyne. She leaves behind with fond memories of special times spent together, several cousins, nieces and nephews and two daughters, Janice Falcone and son-in-law Richard Falcone of Griffin, Ga, Marvourine Burgoyne Lammers and son-in-law Brian Lammers of Ellington, CT. Four Grandchildren, Scott Burgoyne of Ellington, CT, Jody Falcone (Mike Melaniphy) of Riverside, IL, Karen Casavant (Richard) of South Windsor, Ct, Jeffrey Falcone of Newnan, Ga (John Harris), one great grandson, Joshua Lewis of South Windsor, CT. She married Bernard Arthur Macie in 1938 in St. Johnsbury, VT. After 52 years of Marriage, Bernard passed away in 1990. Adeline graduated from Brightlook Hospital’s School of Nursing in St. Johnsbury, VT in 1935 as a Registered Nurse and practiced nursing until her retirement in 1975. She worked many years as a private duty nurse in homes and hospitals and then many years as an office manager and nurse assistant for Dr. John Burns in Hartford, CT. She carried on her dedication to helping others wherever the need arose. Over the years, she continued to get together with some of her nursing classmates on visits to Vermont and New Hampshire. She maintained a fabulous memory of her childhood days raised on farms in Canada and Vermont. Her husband’s job took them to Connecticut in 1952 and then on to many happy retirement years spent in Sun City, CA, where she enjoyed lawn bowling, ceramics, gardening, travel, sewing, knitting and crossword puzzles. She moved to Northbrook, IL in 1990 to be closer to family when her husband died. While living in Northbrook, Adeline volunteered using her nursing skills to be of help to others. She then moved to Richmond Hill, GA, and then Griffin, GA when her family relocated. Many thanks to all those loving people who have cared for her and played a role in her life. A private grave side service will be scheduled in early fall at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rocky Hill, Ct, where she will join her husband Bernard at rest. “There is a garden where Jesus is waiting and I go with my burden of care, Just to learn from his lips words of comfort, Oh, the beautiful garden of prayer! There my Savior awaits as He opens the gates to that beautiful garden of prayer.”
