Beulah G. (Casey) Cox

Beulah G. (Casey) Cox was born August 3, 1922 in Bale City, Illinois. She completed high school at age sixteen and moved to Chicago where she enrolled in Cook County School of Nursing. After graduation World War II was in full swing so she joined the Army Nurse Corp and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. She served state-side at Percy Jones Army Medical Hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan as a surgical nurse. It was there she met Sergeant Loyd Cox who was recovering from wounds sustained during combat operations in the Battle of the Bulge. When the war was over they married and began raising a family in Illinois. In 1976 they moved to Williamson, Ga and bought a 64 acre farm where she enjoyed her flowers and birds. They attended Second Baptist Church in Griffin and later, First Baptist Church in Zebulon. On Saturday, June 4, she went to be with her Lord and Savior. Beulah was known by everyone for her servant’s heart as she ministered to residents in nursing homes and hospitals. She taught Sunday School for 55 years, from ages 3 to 90+. She supported numerous charities including Compassion Internatinal, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Samaritans Purse and always made 6-10 shoe boxes at Christmas time for Operation Christmas Child. She was an excellent seamstress, making everything from tiny doll clothes to ball gowns, and won blue ribbons for her quilts at the Spalding County Fair. She is preceded in death by her husband Loyd Cox of Williamson, GA, parents Nova and Gladys Casey , sisters Amber Cothern, Maryetta Keeler, Doris Louise Casey and Donna Spinner and brother Bruce Casey. She is survived by her children Gail Godley (Vincent) of Williamson, Randy Cox (Mary) of Senoia and Keith Cox (Denise)of Griffin; five grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was the rock of the family and will be greatly missed by all. Visitation will be at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home from 6-8 Monday night. Funeral will be Tuesday morning, June 7, at 11AM in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Dr. Ed Hoard will officiate. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens.
