Bob McAlpine

Mr. Robert C. (Bob) McAlpine, age 82, of Marietta, GA formerly of Griffin, GA passed away Monday, February 28, 2011. Mr. McAlpine was born in Medford, Massachusetts on November 17, 1928 to the late Charles C. McAlpine and the late Catherine Rooney McAlpine. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Engstrom McAlpine, son, Charles F. McAlpine. Mr. McAlpine graduated from the Boy’s Catholic High School, Malden, MA in 1946, was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II and Korean War. After his military service he attended and graduated from Merrimack College in 1952. He joined the Carter family on April 13, 1953 as a Production Planning Clerk in Needham Heights, MA. He was promoted to Production Planning Supervisor in April of 1961 and held several other positions, including Production Operations Supervisor and Purchasing Agent-Fabric and Contract. He transferred to Barnesville, GA in 1973 as a Material Control Specialist. Since that time, Bob has been Plant Manager-Distribution (Carver Road), Supervisor Trims & Shop Orders Printing, Supervisor of Embroidery, Screen Printing, Berreibi Cutting-Contract and Assistant Buyer, at the time of his retirement Bob was a Buyer at the Hill St. Location and had 50 years of service. Bob was affectionately known as “Mr. Mc”. He was long time member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was active in the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Mc is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Virginia Marie and Russell Cudmore; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Carl and Kathleen McAlpine; grandchildren, Deborah and Matthew Garcia, Matthew and Amy Cudmore, Christina Cudmore and her fiancee’ Derek Bennett, Brian and Jennifer McAlpine, Elizabeth and Seamus O’Rourke, Patrick McAlpine; great grandchildren, Jameson McAlpine, Zoe Grace Garcia and Emma McCaulla; several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass for Mr. Bob McAlpine will be said on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Dennis Juan and Father Mike Sherliza will officiate. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A rosary will be said at 7:30 pm.
