Bonnie M. Pike

Mr. Bonnie M. Pike, age 78 of Griffin, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Brightmoor Hospice. He fought a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Pike was born in Franklin, Georgia on October 15, 1934. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Arthur Pike and Lotice M. Abner Pike; his first wife, Juanita Cowart Pike; brothers, Steve Pike, Robert Pike, Dawson Pike, Harvey Pike and Junior Pike; sisters, Eloise Pike and Weate Pike Alford Nelms. Mr. Pike was a member of the Griffin First United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Men’s Bible Class. He was a former member of the Elk’s Club. Bonnie served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Boxer during the Korean War. After being discharged from the Navy, he joined the GA State Patrol from 1960 to 1963 being stationed in Griffin. In 1963 he transferred to the G.B.I. and retired in 1989 with the rank of Inspector. He served as coroner for Spalding County for 3 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a friend to many. His favorite pastime was hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Eugenia (Gene) Alston Pike; son, Morris Pike and wife, Jennifer and their children, April Pike Spradlin and husband, Todd, Brandi M. Pike; stepson, Walter E. Alston and wife, Debbie and their children, Jennifer Alston, Mandy Roberts, Jeremy Roberts; great grandchildren, Connor and Colby Spradlin; nephews, Ted and Ty Alford and families. Visitation for Mr. Bonnie M. Pike will be on Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 11:00am at Griffin First United Methodist Church. Reverend Kevin Lobello and Reverend Kevin Barnes will officiate. The family has asked the Men’s Bible Sunday School Class, the Joy Sunday School Class and the Law Enforcement to sit as a group at the service. Interment will follow in Franklin City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Griffin First United Methodist Church, 1401 Maple Drive, Griffin, GA 30224 or to the American Cancer Society, 301 Kelly Drive, Suite 3, Peachtree City, GA 30269 in memory of Mr. Pike.
