Buna Jordan

Mrs. Buna Mae Woodruff Jordan, 71, of Hampton, passed away on October 10, 2010, at Southern Crescent Hospital in Riverdale, GA. Buna was born in Atlanta June 9th, 1939, to Terry and Daisy Mae Woodruff. She spent her childhood growing up with her family and friends in Cabbage Town where she met her marine, the love of her life, Billy Jordan. After only two weeks of dating, they were married and began their 51 year journey. Buna made many sacrifices through the years being a military wife. She left the family she loved and followed Billy around the country, including two years in Hawaii. She also endured the agony and heartbreak of watching him serve two terms in the Vietnam War. They were blessed after three years to have a son, Billy Jr. He was Buna’s pride and joy. He was also her companion when Billy Sr. was shipped out of country. After serving our country for twenty years, they retired and moved to Hampton where they formed friendships that have lasted a lifetime. But, in 1987, the role Buna was made for finally fell into place; she became a grandmother. Everyone who knew her more than five minutes knew about Neill and Jamie. No matter what they needed, she was always there. She has left her mark on them forever, and all the great things they accomplish will be to her credit. She will be sorely missed and always loved. Buna Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Terry and Daisy Woodruff; and brother, Harold Woodruff. Buna Mae leaves behind her husband of 51 years, Billy Harold Jordan Sr.; her son and daughter-in-law, Bill & Tammy Jordan; her heart, her two grandsons, Neill & Jamie Jordan; sister and brother-in-law, Pat & Gordon Batchelor; brothers and sisters-in-law, T.J. & Faye Woodruff and Jerry & Gail Woodruff; Nieces and nephews, Kim Collins, Jerrica Woodruff, Cody Collins, Ariel Collins, J.H. Woodruff, and Amanda Woodruff; special neighbors and a multitude of amazing friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 1pm in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Dr. Randy Valimont and Chaplin Michael Winsor will officiate. Interment will follow in the Westwood Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
