Chris Lance

Mr. George Christopher (Chris) Lance, age 77 of Griffin, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 after complications of Alzheimer’s disease at Reliance Healthcare. Mr. Lance was born in Sparta, Georgia on April 29, 1937. He is preceded in death by his parents, Boyce P. Lance, Sr. and Sara Bell Lance; sister, Sara Lance Dees, all of Washington, GA. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathryn G. Lance; son, David C. Lance (Laura) of Atlanta, GA and his children, Andrew, Devyn, and Connor Lance and their mother, Tiffany G. Lance of Locust Grove, GA; son, Clint S. Lance and daughter, Makayla Lance of Griffin, GA; brothers, Boyce P. Lance, Jr. (Anne) of White, GA; Clarence Lance (Lynne) of Ringgold, GA; Willard Lance (Sue) of Washington, GA; Guy Lance (Judith) of Lexington, GA; John Lance of Crawfordville, GA; brother-in-law, Larry C. Green (Fran) of Gainesville, GA; sister-in-law, Anndrea Lance of Carrollton, GA; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Lance was a native of Washington, GA, graduating from Washington High School in 1955. He attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and received his BS Degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Georgia, as well as a Master’s Degree in Economics. He was in the National Guard Reserve for 10 years. He worked for 35 years in the Agricultural Economics Department at the GA Experiment Station on UGA’s Griffin Campus. He was a licensed kennel owner and bred beagles and bloodhounds for many years. He was a faithful member of Rock Springs Congregational Methodist Church and the Seekers Sunday School Class. He was also a former member of the Griffin Bulldog Club and the GA Poultry Federation. Visitation for Mr. Chris Lance will be Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted following the visitation in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home at 4:00pm. Dr. Benny Tate will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Chris Lance to the Music Ministry of Rock Springs Church, 219 Rock Springs Rd., Milner, GA 30257.
