Eloise Sandlin Reed

Eloise Sandlin Reed, better known as “GoGo”, passed away on August 21, 2012. GoGo was born in Culberth, Georgia on September 19, 1918. She is preceded in death by parents, Will Sandlin and Ruby Bynum Sandlin; husband, Randall Reed; twin sister, Louise Hutto. GoGo was a member of County Line United Methodist Church and active in UMW. GoGo got her nickname from her love of being on the move, either locally or across the country. As long as she was in the car, preferably behind the wheel, she was happy. She was an avid camper, beginning as a newlywed and continuing until her health forced her to quit. She camped in all 49 continental states and much of Canada. She also flew to Hawaii to complete her 50 states. Her adventurous spirit and love of family provided many happy memories for her children. She also took her grandchildren on many camping trips while they were growing up. Her great-grandchildren were her almost constant companions in their early years. She loved Jesus, her church, her family, and everyone she met. She was the happiest when she was serving others. She taught Sunday School for many years while her children were growing up and continued to be active in her church throughout her life. Her focus was always on others. If she wasn’t helping someone, she didn’t feel that she was doing anything at all. Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Alice and James Moore, Bobbie Hester; grandchildren, Richard Moore and fiancée, Jessica Armstrong, Vikki and Scott Brothers, Randy and Stephanie York; great grandchildren, Nathaniel Brothers, Hadley Brothers, Jordan York; sister, Carolyn Chester; several nieces and nephews; former in-law, Doug York; “adopted” grandson, Nebojsa Savic of Serbia. Funeral services for Eloise “GoGo” Sandlin Reed will be conducted on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 11:00am at County Line United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the funeral hour at the church. Reverend Gene Walton and Reverend Bill Torrance will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Westbury Health and Rehabilitation Center, Activities Department, 198 Hampton Street, McDonough, Georgia 30253 in memory of Eloise “GoGo” Reed.
