Fairy Davis Sauls

Ms. Fairy Davis Sauls, age 99, of Griffin, loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend passed away Sunday, May29, 2011 at Brightmoor Nursing Center. Ms. Fairy Sauls was preceded in death by her husband, Volney A. Sauls and three brothers, Hulon Davis, Marvin Davis and James Davis. Fairy was born August 18, 1911 in Molena, Georgia to the late W.A and Pellie Ann Ballard Davis. She often told of her fond memories of living on the farm and riding horses. A deeply devoted Christian, Fairy loved the Lord. She took pride in sharing scripture and praying for all that came to visit. She attended Second Baptist Church for many years and later attended Southside Baptist Church. Despite her failing health, she always relied on her strong faith to get her through the difficult times. Fairy was a proud grandmother to 3 granddaughters and 8 great grandchildren. She was always ready to share a story about all of their accomplishments. She took her role serious in being the perfect grandmother. Fairy Sauls was a woman of strong faith that always loved and cared for her family. Her greatest sense of pride and accomplishment aside from raising her daughter, Sandra, was her home and flowers on Melrose Avenue. She was a woman that loved hard work and it showed in the well-manicured yard with the roses and azaleas. In her final years she called Brightmoor Nursing Center her home. It was there that a strong bond was formed with her extended family. She loved each and every person that cared for her. A very heartfelt “thank you” to those who helped Fairy’s last years be so full of love and joy. Mrs. Sauls is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Alton Waller; grandchildren and their spouses, Connie and Earl Clements, Angie and David Dillon, Stephanie and Bowen Jones; great grandchildren, Cody and Anna Beth Clements, Olivia and John David Dillon, Wes, Jake, Emma and Meg Jones; sister, Sara Taylor Morgan; several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Fairy Davis Sauls will be conducted on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the old section of Oak Hill Cemetery. Reverend Jim Cannady will officiate. Friends may visit the family Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
