Janet B. Ragan

Mrs. Janet Bowles Ragan, age 60 of Griffin, passed away at her home on November 6, 2014, following a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her family. Mrs. Ragan was born in Griffin, Georgia on August 19, 1954 to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Bowles. She graduated Griffin High School in 1972 and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in 1974 with a degree in ornamental horticulture. She worked for a time in her own greenhouse, The Dirt Dobber, and then for several years at Home Nurseries in Concord, Georgia. Mrs. Ragan returned to school and graduated Macon State College with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She was employed as a dental hygienist with Dr. Bennie Evans and later for Magusiak, Morgan and Brown until her illness forced her to retire. She loved growing plants, especially flowers and loved animals. Mrs. Ragan was predeceased by her father, Thomas E. Bowles; paternal grandparents, H. Eugene and Janie Bowles; maternal grandparents, Herman T. and Katie Sue Washington; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mack A. and Elsie Kelley Ragan. Survivors include her husband of 35 years, J. Scott Ragan; two daughters, Lindsey Ragan and Callie Ragan Bloodworth and her husband, Caleb; her precious dog, Roxanne; mother, Annelle W. Bowles; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy B. and Oscar Gresham; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Dee Ragan; nephews, David Ragan and wife, Jennifer and their daughter, Jada, Tim Gresham; niece, Tammy Gresham Sanders and husband, Donnie; cousins, Marlin Purmort, Sue Pryor and husband, Wayne, Durrell Purmort and wife, Terri, Donna Eidson, Ann Purmort and Tom Washington. Visitation for Mrs. Janet Bowles Ragan will be on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 4:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home, with the memorial service immediately following. Reverend Michelle Rawdin will officiate.
