Kathleen F. Socha

Kathleen Fitzsimmons Socha, age 65 of Griffin, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at her residence. Kathleen was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on January 20, 1949. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Fitzsimmons and Madeline Zoller Fitzsimmons and brother, William (Bill) Fitzsimmons. Kathleen is survived by brother, Joseph (Joe) Fitzsimmons of Dayton, Tennessee; sister, Barbara Fitzsimmons of Gainesville, Florida; niece, Cori Wulf and husband David Wulf; great-niece, Lauren and great-nephew, Ryan Wulf of Boca Raton, Florida; nephew, Eric Fitzsimmons and wife Vickie Fitzsimmons; and great-nephew, Ryan Fitzsimmons of Boca Raton, Florida; niece, Catherine Fitzsimmons of Boca Raton, Florida; and sister-in-law, Roxy Clark of Boca Raton, Florida; nephew, Ben Kulp of Griffin, Georgia; business partner of over 35 years, Andi Kulp of Griffin, Georgia; business partner and friend, Nancy Cook of Griffin, Georgia. Kathleen was CEO, President and Award-Winning Creative Director with Phase One Design Services, Inc. with clients including: Chase Bank, Lowes, Coca-Cola, Chick-Fil-A, NAPA and design work for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and The World Cup. The Village at Indian Springs, Indian Springs, Georgia and Barnstormer’s Grill, Williamson, Georgia are among the clients served over the last 35 years. Kathleen was a Senior Partner with Generations Gallery in The Village at Indian Springs up until she was diagnosed with ALS in January of 2014. She loved working with the kids and adults, teaching art and she especially loved the work the Generations Writers Group is accomplishing. Kathleen attended Saint Thomas Aquinas, Fort Lauderdale, Florida and was a graduate of the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida. She was a sought-after speaker for retail design, advertising and graphic design, speaking at trade shows and events and traveled extensively going to China in 1988 to lecture seven different universities in design, graphics and marketing. A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 2:00pm at St. George’s Episcopal Church. The Reverend Nancy Shepherd will officiate.
