Margaret Crews

Mrs. Margaret Eleanor Baker Crews, age 82, of Griffin, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2010 from injuries she received in an automobile accident. Mrs. Crews was born in Smyrna, Georgia on February 27, 1928 to the late John Thomas “Buley” Baker and the late Theodosia Commi “Bell” Rutledge Baker. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Reverend Alvin S.Crews, John Curtis Floyd; sons, Mark Curtis Floyd and Jimmy Rodgers Crews, son-in-law, Robert Clinton Daniel. Mrs. Crews was affectionately known by many as Mother, Grandmother, Great Mother, Sweet-Sweet, and Aunt Margaret. She was a graduate of the Lyerly High School where she was the Salutatorian, she was a graduate of the New Life Bible College in Decatur, had received many awards for her poetry and some had been published in the Summerville newspaper. She was past president of the PTA, Sunday School Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, and had been a teacher at the Piedmont Youth Camp. She was a former Home Economic representative for Chattooga County, a former Avon representative and had retired as a child care provider for the McConnell Family and the Hathaway Family. Mrs. Crews and her husband Reverend Alvin S. Crews ministered together for 20 years before his health started declining. She was a member of the West Sunnyside Community Church. Mrs. Crews is survived by children and spouses, Sharon and Steve Gilliam, Ruth Kime and Ron Hall, Steve and Cindy Floyd, Joe and Mavis Crews, AlvaJean Daniel, June Crews; grandchildren, Celeste and Michael Frazier, Chris and Leigh Hall, Jeremy and Kellie Hall, Rachel and Eddie Moss, Madison and Chase Rogers, Crystal Floyd, Stephanie Floyd, Autumn Floyd; great grandchildren, Alaina Hall, J.C. Hall, Jessica Stevenson, Zach Stevenson, Belle Hall, Grace Hall, Braden Hall, Anna Moss, Tucker Moss, Dylan Moss, Jay Frazier, Amelia Frazier, Nollie Rogers; sister-in-law, Mary Crews; precious Crews families grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Eleanor Crews will be conducted on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the West Sunnyside Community Church. Reverend Hugh Smith and Reverend Barry Jones will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Those desiring may make a contribution to the World Missions Fund of the Congregational Holiness Church, 3888 Fayetteville Highway, Griffin, Georgia 30223 in memory of Mrs. Crews. Mrs. Crews will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service.
