Peggy L. Truman

Mrs. Peggy L. Truman, age 78 of Griffin, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Brightmoor Hospice. Born Peggy Lucille Grove, January 21, 1935 in Springfield Ohio, where she attended grade school, junior high and high school and graduated in 1953. After graduation she went to school to be an x-ray technician at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. She held the position of X-ray Technician for one year. She met her future husband, Earl Truman, at church in Springfield, where they both grew up and were involved in the music program. Both were in the choir, quartets and sang solos. Peggy and Earl married in July of 1954. In the marriage of 21 years, they had six children. All six children who survive are: Jamie Bechtol and her husband Richard with two children, Peleen and Wendy; Randy Truman and his wife, Cindy with three children, Nicole, Randy and Casey; Christy Nero and her husband, Jim with two children, Jimmy and Kara; Scott Truman and his wife, Maria with three children, Michael, Caitlin and Tiffany; Laural Ciuffetelli and her husband, Paul with two children, Jolynn and Paul; Brian Truman and his wife, Elena. There are also two great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters; sister-in-law, Beverly Grove; several nieces and nephews. Peggy and Earl moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin about 1959 and then to Melbourne, Florida about 1963. From there they moved to Hialeah, Florida. They both continued in the music programs at their church. After becoming single, Peggy was married to James Flett for 10 years and he preceded her in death. Also preceding Mrs. Truman in death was her brother, Pearl W. Grove. In 1996 Peggy moved to Griffin, Georgia to be near her oldest daughter. Later circumstances brought her other daughters to live with her in Griffin. She and Christy bought a home together where she has lived since. Mrs. Truman attended New Salem Baptist Church. Visitation for Mrs. Peggy L. Truman will be Friday, April 26, 2013 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home with Paul Ciuffetelli officiating. Interment will follow at Westwood Gardens.
