Regina Whatley

Mrs. Regina Lynn Stubbs Whatley, age 63 of Griffin, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 9, 2012 surrounded by her family at her residence. Mrs. Whatley was born at Crawford W. Long Hospital June 24, 1949 and raised up in Woolsey, Fayette County, Georgia until she met and married Jerry D. Whatley on July 6, 1968 at Antioch Baptist Church, Woolsey, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her parents, Reginald Stubbs and Mildred Pritchett Stubbs; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alton Bevel Whatley and Clara Estelle Beasley Whatley. Regina was a member of Southside Baptist Church, a loving wife to her husband Jerry, loving and devoted mother to Reggie and Tommy, a special mother-in-law to Debbie that she loved so much, a loving and special grandmother to Brandon that was the twinkle in her eye, she wished she would have had lived long enough to see him grow up. She was a very special mother to Reggie which she gave all her energy to take care of every special need for him, during his young years to adulthood. She did a wonderful job until her health declined. She will be missed by family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Jerry D. Whatley; son, Joel Thomas (Tommy) Whatley and his wife Debbie and their son, Brandon; son Reginald Alton (Reggie) Whatley all of Griffin; brother, Ronnie Stubbs and his wife Cindy and their daughters, Cristy and Marie of Riverdale; brother-in-law David Lee Whatley, and his son, David Lee Whatley, Jr. and his wife Stacey and their children of Griffin; brother-in-law, William Ray Whatley and his wife Nancy of Griffin; sister-in-law, Karen Freeman and her husband Larry and their daughter, Heather M. Freeman and son, Brett Freeman and his wife Heather and their children, Karaline and Kyndel of Griffin; sister-in-law, Miriam W. Allen and her husband Ricky and their son, Jonathan; aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces, Stephanie Fowler, Julie Pierce, nephew Eric Whatley. The family would like to thank Brightmoor Hospice Staff for all their care and support, Connie, Pam, Paula, Gloria, Mattie and very special thanks to Lauri, Visitation for Mrs. Regina Whatley will be on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 11:00am at Southside Baptist Church. Dr. Mark Sellers will officiate. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Southside Baptist Church, Youth Dept, 1332 Zebulon Rd., Griffin, Georgia 30224 in memory of Regina.
