Steve Moody

Mr. James Stephen “Steve” Moody, age 67 of Brooks, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on the morning of July 30, 2014 at 3:52am. Steve was born at home in the town of Brooks in Fayette County, Georgia on May 31, 1947. He was the first child, and first son, of Margaret Barker Moody and the late Hyram Leeman Moody. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Christopher Moody. Steve graduated from Fayette County High School in 1967. He volunteered for the United States Air Force in 1967 and served in the Security Service Division of the Air Force in Italy and Japan. Steve married Belinda Gaston Moody April 19, 1970 and they moved to Japan for a period of time. They enjoyed their time in Japan immensely and made life-long friends during their adventures. Steve returned to the civilian work force as an electrician and began a career at Delta in 1979 where he worked until he retired in 2002. Always wanting to stay busy and because of his love of Delta, Steve decided to return to work part time for Delta in 2006 as a contractor through Sage Parts. During his retirement he loved playing with his grandchildren, working in his garden and visiting the beach with family. Steve shared his love of growing things with his grandchildren and endeavored to teach them all he could. Steve was a Deacon at County Line Christian Church and enjoyed serving his church and others. Steve was a giving person and always willing to lend a hand or help a neighbor, friend and relative with any issue. According to one of his granddaughters, he could “fix” anything. Steve is survived by his wife of 44 years, Belinda Gaston Moody; daughter, Lynn Dale; son, Jason Moody; grandchildren, Arwen Dale, Ella Dale and Jacob Dale; son-in-law, Eric Dale, his mother, Margaret Moody; two sisters, Sharon Etheridge and Elaine Whitlock; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Visitation for Mr. Steve Moody will be on Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 2:00pm at County Line Christian Church. Reverend Dillan Higgins will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Moody will lie-in-state from 1:00pm until the funeral hour.
