T.C. Williams

On Wednesday, September 12, 2012, Thomas Carroll Williams went home to be with the Lord. He was known as T.C. to friends, Carroll to his family, PawPaw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and Daddy to his children. At the age of 95, he lived a long life in which he served his Lord faithfully, loved and provided for his family. He was a loving husband, father, brother, son and friend, who valued all of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He was known for his wit and loved to tell a joke, showing a little grin as he delivered the punch line. He is now with his Lord, and reunited with his beloved wife of 59 years, Elsie. We are sure he is singing in heaven’s choir, as he loved singing hymns of the faith during his many years at Highland Baptist Church. He served as a deacon and Sunday School Director there for many years. He later joined Southside Baptist Church, attending there until his health no longer allowed him to go. Wherever he was, he served God faithfully, including serving as treasurer for the Flint River Baptist Association for over 20 years. He served his country during World War II in the Army’s 811th Tank Destroyer BN. in the European arena. He was well-known to local contractors as the accountant for West Griffin Lumber Company and prepared income tax returns for many in the community. He was a member of Golden K and Volunteered at Spalding Regional Hospital at the front desk for many years. He will be dearly missed by those he left behind. These include his son and daughter-in-law, David and Pam Williams; his two daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Jim Grubbs, Barbara and Jim King. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Lance Williams, Scott Williams and wife Sarah, Jennifer Freeman, Meredith Thacker and husband Josh, Bradley Grubbs, Kathy King; one step-grand child, Shelley Grubbs. He has seven great-grandchildren, Ally, Clara and Gigi Williams, Stephen and Blake Freeman, Riley Kate and Laine Thacker; one step great-grandchild, Tanner Shirah. He has three surviving sisters, Janice Ballard, Anna Oldag, Marjorie Nunnally; many nieces, nephews and extended family. He also leaves behind a dear friend, Dixie Bickley, with whom he shared special moments during the last few years of his life. Visitation for Mr. T.C. Williams will be on Friday, September 14, 2012 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Dr. Mark Sellers and Dr. Tim Jones will officiate. Interment will follow in Griffin Memorial Gardens.
