Wyndell E. Hollis

Wyndell E. Hollis, age 61 of Griffin, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Wyndell was born in Atlanta, Georgia on March 14, 1951. He is preceded in death by his parents, Esca and Marion Bray Hollis. Wyndell was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in Vietnam. Wyndell was everything to our family. Nothing meant more to him than being a loving and caring husband to his wife Gail, whom he loved dearly. The incredible bond and love he had with his daughter Heidi, was unmistakable and will be cherished forever. His granddaughter Claudia meant the world to him and he loved being with her. Often times, he would come to her school and just the two of them would have lunch together. Wyndell found the greatest enjoyment in life by simply spending time with his family on Sunday afternoons at his house. He always looked forward to his family weekends when everyone would be together. Some of his fondest memories are when his family and closest friends, who were also his family, would meet at the farm for long weekends and enjoy each other’s company. Wyndell loved going to the farm and working on his “projects.” If he wasn’t on his lawnmower, he was at the lake shore with his branch cutter clearing an opening for another prime fishing spot. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Gail P. Hollis; daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and David Dick; granddaughter, Claudia Dick all of Griffin; brother, Stanley Hollis of PA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gene and Carol Potter, Greg and Kackie Potter; niece, Greer Potter; nephews, Artie and wife, Kim Potter, Todd and wife, Megan; several great nieces and nephews all of Griffin. Visitation for Wyndell will be Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Celiac Foundation, 13251 Ventura Blvd, Ste 1, Studio City, CA 91604. Wyndell will always remain the greatest family member and friend anyone could ever have in their life. He will be terribly missed, but will always be with us forever until we meet again.
