Bonnie Brownlee Cobb

Mrs. Bonnie Brownlee Cobb, age 95 of Brooks died January 9, 2017 at Brightmoor Nursing Center. Bonnie was born October 1, 1921 in Atlanta, Georgia, to parents James and Edna Brownlee. After graduating from Atlanta High School, Bonnie was awarded a scholarship to Ga State University in Atlanta, where she studied accounting. Bonnie was a city girl until she met Sam and married in November 1951. She moved to Brooks, where Sam owned and operated Cobb Bros Dairy Farm. Bonnie became a true country girl, with no desire to ever return to the city. Later, Sam and Bonnie started what would become Sabon Properties Rentals, (aka Cobb-Town). Bonnie was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. For many years she was a member of the Spalding Sprockets Bicycle Club and the Griffin Boat Club. Bonnie had a great love of life and family. She was most known for her passion for bicycle riding, often riding 30 miles a day throughout the Brooks community into her early eighties. She swam and danced thru life, as well as learned to snow ski and water ski in her early sixties. Some of her most favorite times were in Florida with family and friends on the beach and fishing in the Gulf. She is preceded in death by husband of 43 years, Sam Cobb and siblings; William Brownlee, Fam Brownlee, Virginia Connell, James Brownlee, Nell Scarbrough, and Rhudy Brownlee. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Penni and John Cavender, son and daughter-in-law Sam and Lynne Cobb; grandchildren Mat and Carol Cobb, Katie Cobb, Jake Cavender, and Bo Cavender; great-granddaughter Rose Cobb; numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-laws Marian Perry and Eleanor Cobb; and her Brooks community family the Rucks, Sebrens, and Boyers. The family would like to thank Brightmoor Assisted Living and Brightmoor Nursing Center for the loving care these past five years. A visitation for Mrs. Bonnie Cobb will be on Sunday, January 15, 2017 from 1:00 pm until 2:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Following the visitation a funeral service will be conducted in the chapel. Reverend Charles Johnson will officiate. Interment will follow in Brooks Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Children’s Hospital of Atlanta or the charity of their choice in her memory.
