Calvin Oliver Perry

Mr. Calvin Oliver Perry, age 84, of Gloria Street, Griffin, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Perry was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 26, 1926 to the late Henry Oliver Perry and the late Ruby Upchurch Perry. He was preceded in death by a son, Tony Perry. Mr. Perry was a Veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II. Mr. Perry was formerly employed with Griffin Grocery Company, F.W. Woolworth, U.S. Postal Service, Department of Army (Civil Service), Personnel Officer City of Griffin. He was the Past Exalted Ruler Elks Lodge #1207 B.P.O.E., a former volunteer with the Civil Air Patrol, a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a former counselor for the Royal Ambassadors Youth Group and President of the FBC XYZ Group, a member of Masonic Lodge #26. Mr. Perry is survived by his wife, Belvey Stewart Perry; daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Chris Zimmermann of Ball Ground, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Stewart and Maria Perry of Roswell, GA; daughter-in-law and her husband, Nancy and Len Bythewood of Griffin; grandchildren, Beth and Chris Morgan of Gainesville, GA, Meredith and Richard Stelling of Griffin, Justin Perry of Roswell, GA, Lindsey Perry of Roswell, GA; great-grandchild, Aidan Stelling of Griffin; extended family, David and Christine Bythewood of Dallas, GA, Abby, Brady and Emma Bythewood of Dallas, GA, Linda and Seth Owen of Conyers, GA, Raegan and Grant Owen of Conyers, GA, Rick Bythewood of Athens, GA; nieces, Diane Demark of Orlando, FL, Linda Mistretta of Homer City, PA, Denise Swink of Germantown, MD, and Jean Fitzgibbon of Camden, NJ. Funeral service for Mr. Calvin Perry will be conducted on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Reverend John Nance will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
